1.6: Welcome home, son.

A few more agonizing days had passed before the day of Dalton and Marilyn's new arrival would show up. They hated the waiting, but they knew it would all be worth it in the end.

Marilyn actually woke up before her early riser husband for once, and she decided to make waffles for everyone.
"I hope he likes waffles. I hope he likes me. I wonder what his name is." She mumbled under her breath the whole time she made waffles.

Not moments after Marilyn had put the waffles on the counter, Sadie called.
"Good morning Marilyn, hope I didn't wake you, we have sent someone to accompany your new son to your house. I sadly couldn't come myself."
"Oh it's fine, I just finished with breakfast. I hope he likes waffles."
"He's a young kid, I'm sure he will. Anyways they'll be there within a matter of minutes."
"Thank you so much."
Marilyn hung up the phone. Dalton was up and outside in the garden, oh well, it'd be great to surprise him.

As soon as she hung up, Marilyn was at the window waiting. A few cars passed by giving her false hope, but her hand went to her cheek as she noticed one car slowing down. Suddenly her palms were sweaty, and she was freaking out. She didn't even know his name, or anything about this little boy, but she wanted to love him with all of her heart.

There he was. Walking up the drive way, looking at the front lawn. Most likely he was looking at the bikes in the front yard. Marilyn noticed he was a little pale or well blue, she started to wonder if he had an illness. They should have told them if something was wrong with him, they'd love him either way, that could be dangerous.
His red hair was just adorable and looked so fluffy, Marilyn just wanted to ruffle it. In truth all she wanted to do was run up to him and pinch his cheeks.

Instead of pinching his cheeks she pulled him in for a tight hug. A small body to hug. He was so warm. Marilyn was right, his hair was soft and fluffy; it felt good against her skin.

Marilyn pulled back from the hug to look at the young boy and talk to him.
"Hi sweetheart, my name is Marilyn. You can call me mom, only if you want to, and the man that just walked in the door is Dalton. You can call him dad if you want. What's your name?"
"I'm Leon." He gave her a small smile.
"That's a great name, do you like waffles Leon?" Marilyn grinned as he nodded his head. "Well come sit down and we'll get you some waffles.

The table was quiet for once. No bantering between Marilyn and Dalton, no conversations, and no one was going to start one. Marilyn ate happily even though it was quiet, it reminded her of her childhood. She had come from a pretty big family, consisting of four other kids, her parents always had breakfast made before they went to school so it was always a lot of fun at the table. She was the only girl, the youngest, and her brothers always reminded her of that. That's why she was so tough sometimes, though her mother made it a point to make sure she was sensitive. Marilyn guessed it worked since she now had a husband and a child.

After breakfast, Marilyn showed Leon his room. It was small and didn't have much in it, she felt bad for that, but she wanted to get more for it.
"I'm sorry that's so small. If there's anything you want, just tell me or Dalton and we'll try to get it for you." She waited for an answer.

Once she realized he was going to give her an answer she made her way to the door. "I'll just leave you alone for a bit." He nodded and she went into the living room.

"Do you think he likes it here?" Marilyn had been sitting on the couch playing with her hands, she was so nervous that Leon hated it here.
"I don't think he hates it, dear. I'm sure it's a bit different than living with actual genies, I don't know much about genie magic but I can help him a little bit."
"Yeah I guess.. wait what? Did you just say genie? Is that why his skin is blue?"
"You didn't know that? But yes, our son is a genie. By how light his skin is, I'm thinking one of his parents was a human. Probably the mother, hmm that could make some interesting situations as to why he's an orphan." Dalton started rambling to himself, Marilyn listened to her loony husband.

 Meanwhile Leon was sitting in his new parents room playing with one of his new toys. So far he loved being here, he felt loved and wanted for once. His new mommy was nice and his new daddy was funny, he wanted to stay here for a long time.

----------
After dinner Dalton made his way outside to work on his alchemy. He hadn't noticed that Leon followed him.
"What are you doing with that big book? What are all of those plants?"
Dalton jumped slightly. "Goodness boy." He took a moment to relax before explaining what alchemy was. After explaining Leon looked more intrigued than ever.
"Do you have any potions?" He asked very curious.
"Yes. Would you like to try one? I have one that will make you very happy."

Leon sniffed it, not sure if it was safe to drink it.
"Go on, it's not gonna hurt you. I promise." He smiled and scratch the side of his head, his son was so curious. Were all little boys like this? He was gonna have his hands full.

Leon threw his head back and let out a yell. Dalton stood there trying not to react badly, if Marilyn knew he'd let their son try a new potion she'd have his head.
Thankfully the yell turned to laughing, that was music to Dalton's ears.
"Everything alright, son?"
"Yes! I'm so happy." Leon laughed. "Thanks dad! Wanna play rock, paper, scissors?"

Dalton attempted to put on a competitive face and accepted his sons challenge. Leon beat Dalton quite a few times, which drove him crazy wanting to win. They ended up playing until Marilyn called them inside so Leon could wash up and go to bed.

"But no fish at all was in it, nor any monster or thing of horror, but only a little Mermaid lying fast asleep. So beautiful was she that when the young Fisherman saw her he was filled with wonder, and he put out his hand and drew the net close to him, and leaning over the side he clasped her in his arms. Afraid that she would escape, he held her tightly to him."
Marilyn read Leon a bedtime story so he'd sleep well the first night here

"Yet never again in the corner of the Fullers' Field grew flowers of any kind, but the field remained barren even as before. Nor came the Sea-folk into the bay as they had been wont to do, for they went to another part of the sea." Marilyn hadn't noticed that Leon had fallen asleep, she finished the story and smiled at her little boy.

"Goodnight sweetheart, I love you." Marilyn whispered to her prince before heading off to bed herself.

----------
The next morning everything went to normal, Dalton made breakfast for everyone while Marilyn got Leon up. They happily ate breakfast, this time with more conversation.

After breakfast Marilyn pulled Leon in for a hug.
"Alright sweetie, I have some jobs to do but I promise daddy is gonna take you to the park today since it's nice out. He's in the garden right now, go bug him and maybe he'll quit sooner." She winked before leaving.

Leon did just that, he followed an irritated Dalton around the garden until he gave in. Though he lighten up once they got to the park and Leon challenged him to a soccer shootout.
"Kid, don't think you're gonna beat me. You're too cocky for your own good."
"Try me!"
This bantering went on the whole game. Dalton enjoyed it, he was really enjoying this little boy.

After changing back into normal clothes, both boys got a snow cone.
"Mmm this is delicious, I've never had one before."
"I just had one for the first time a few weeks ago, I think we should get one of these machines. Careful don't eat it too fast!"

"Ahhhhh! My head!"
"Told you. Ooo look fireworks."

The father-son bonding time ended with watching the fireworks. Marilyn eventually showed up and dragged both of them home by the ear. Dalton got a stern talking to about being out so late with Leon having school the next morning, which he just stared right past her at the dirty counter and got out of it with a charming smile.

~~~~~~~~~~
I wasn't expecting Leon to be a genie, he literally showed up like that. The only thing I changed was his hair and outfit. I've never played a genie so I'm nervous about what he can do in the future. Other than that he's an adorable little boy.
1.5: The Interview.
The next few days were almost agonizing as Marilyn and Dalton waited for Sadie to show up and confirm if they would be able to be parents or not. Though things weren't as bad as they originally thought, it actually started off with some good news.
"So guess what?" Marilyn had been so excited to get home and tell her husband the good news about her work that it was almost hard to get it out.
"Yes dear?" Dalton smiled, he was just about to go clean out the sink and make dinner when Marilyn had bust through the door exclaiming she had some amazing news about work.
Marilyn rubbed her hands, almost getting nervous about saying it. "I uhm.. I got my first real gig!" She grinned  ear from ear at her husband in excitement.
"Congratulations love! I'm so proud." He smiled sheepishly, he really was proud of her.
"It's at Verde Park, on Thursday. Which is only two days away! I'm so nervous babe." Marilyn continued to talk on and on about her outfit and how nervous she was.
Dalton pretty much blocked out everything she said, his mind kept wondering to that dirty sink, did she not see it? He wasn't a very neat Sim, but come on that sink was pretty nasty and someone needed to clean it before it came alive.
"Dalton honey, are you even listening to me?"
"Yes, my perfect wife, I am listening very carefully to you." Dalton lied and put on the most charming smile he could, hoping it would distract her from asking what she was talking about.
When it was all said and done, he finally got to clean out that sink.
"Gah, this is disgusting! How did we let it get this bad? It should have started splitting rent with us."
----------
"How's everyone this afternoon?" Marilyn did a little sultry move on stage, thank god the old man in the audience didn't have a heart attack. Dalton, who was on the other side of the stage, just laughed and clapped, he loved watching his wife finally get to perform on a big stage.
----------
The next morning Marilyn heard a knock on the door. Sure enough Sadie had finally stop by for the interview and a little tour of the house.
With shaky hands Marilyn shook Sadies hand with a smile.
"Good morning, you're Marilyn?" Sadie sounded a little stern, but had a gentle smile on her face.
"Yes m'am, and you're Sadie?" Mar asked the ridiculous question proudly, Sadie just gave her a nod.
 "I heard you last night on stage, you were very interesting." Sadie smiled, "Don't worry, stuff like that won't count against you. So far my bosses and I like you very much, this interview is just routine."
Marilyn nodded and just listened. "Would you like to come inside now?" She tried not to seem too happy.
"You have a charming little home. I do hope you're planning on expanding if you want more than one child."
"My husband and I have actually been talking about that and once we get our money where we want it, we'll look more into expanding. Please have a seat."
"So how long have you and your husband been married?"
"A year now."
"Ha, still newly weds in my eyes. What does your husband do? I know that you're attempting to work your way up in the vocalist career."
"He's an alchemist. Since he's a witch, he thought it best to work with what he knows more."
"A witch. Aren't you worried that's dangerous to have a normal child around a witch parent who doesn't know how to take care of normal children?"
"Not at all. Are you implying my husband will be a horrible parent?" Marilyn found herself starting to get upset with this woman and leaned up in her chair. "Witch or not he will be fine."
Sadie took a few moments to answer, which scared the heck out of Marilyn. She was sure their chances where shot now.
She smiled. "I like your answer. I can tell you love your husband very much and would be sufficient at protecting your child. I'd like to see the outside now please."
 Marilyn lead her outside to Dalton's garden. They had freshened it up during the week.
"Oh. Very nice, its a little small out here. Then again there's always the parks." Sadie smiled. "I'm very impressed with your garden sir."
"Thank you." Dalton said without looking up, he hated to be interrupted while gardening.
"Let's go back inside." Marilyn suggested.
----------
The ladies stayed inside talking by themselves until Dalton came in and formally met Sadie. They all talked for a few hours until Sadie announced she had to leave, so Marilyn showed her out.
 "So I have to ask, how are our chances of getting approved?" Marilyn asked cautiously.
Sadie smiled and leaned in. "You're already approved. I gave you my seal of approval as we were talking with your husband."
"I don't get to meet the little boy before he comes over?" Marilyn was a little confused. "Maybe he won't like us, oh no that would be horrible!"
"Calm down. I'm sure he'll love you, but I will do a follow up visit to talk to him privately."
 They waved to each other as Sadie left. Marilyn felt amazing about her visit, she couldn't wait to meet the little boy who she would be taking care of.
Boring things are done! New character coming in next chapter! Woot! I can't wait to see him, I haven't actually played to the part of the getting the little guy though.
1.4: Starting the Process.
It had been a couple of days since Marilyn had gone to the doctors and found out the bad news. Dalton had been avoiding the baby talk since then, but this morning was different. He needed to get her motivated and peppy again, she hadn't even had a Sing-o-Gram in the few days.
"So have you thought about adopting? I have the number for the agency in my phone. Everyone says they are very nice and understanding." After deciding for a few minutes how to approach the subject, he just flat out said it. Marilyn stopped eating for a moment, then continued.
"Finally some peace! For once you don't have a word to say, now I am making you call the agency and you are going to do every Sing-o-Gram you get a call for. Understand young lady?"
 Marilyn put her fist on the table and started to wave her finger.
"I- uhm.." She stammered trying to get something out while Dalton snickered. For once she was speachless, he could get used to this.
 "Ya know, I think we should put some plotted plants in the living room. Maybe it would brighten everything up." Marilyn offered brightly.
"It would, having a little rugrat run around here would brighten up the room too." Dalton mumbled.
----------
Marilyn had thought it over and decided to at least give the agency a call. It couldn't hurt, well not too much. Her hands were sweaty and she was a nervous wreck, those three rings only took a few seconds but felt like an eternity.
"Hello, Sunset Valley adoption agency, this is Sadie speaking."
"Oh uhm hello. Who should I speak with to start the adoption process?"
"You're speaking with the right person, dear. Now I can tell you're nervous so I'll get you through this grueling process." The woman tried to lighten the mood.
 After a few minutes of silence, Sadie, the adoption woman, finally said something to the nervous Marilyn.
"It's standard that we set up a meeting and send someone out to your home. What day would be alright?"
"Oh! Well any day would be fine. My husband and I don't exactly have schedule jobs." Marilyn wasn't sure if that would hurt their chances of getting approved.
"Perfect, then it'll be a surprise drop in." Sadie didn't sound like anything was wrong so Marilyn took that as a good sign.
"Now I don't want to say too much over the phone since I'll be interviewing you soon, but we do have an adorable little boy. Since you're looking to adopt your first child I thought that he would best fit your new family. He's a sweet heart." Sadie said cautiously over the phone.
"I'd love to meet him!" Marilyn smiled excitedly, she didn't care whether the child was a boy or girl, toddler or child. She just wanted a little one to love.
"I can tell you're excited for this, and I'm glad you are. Taking care of a child is a huge responsibility, don't get too excited until after the interview. Anything could go wrong."
Marilyn's face dropped after hearing that, a million things started swimming around in her mind. Could they do this?
Her thoughts were reassured when Sadie took her silence as a chance to say something else.
"Though don't worry. Your husband has already sent in some paper work that he filled out and I am going over right now, so far I like you two. Now I have to be going, but be ready for me to stop by sometime between the two weeks."
Marilyn hung up the phone and just couldn't believe what just happened. Her dreams were really coming true, a little family of her own. Her brown eyes grew wide with excitement as she covered her mouth with her hand to keep from squealing to loud. She couldn't wait to tell Dalton.
~~~~~~~~~~
I'm back! I have spring break this week so I'm gonna be working on updating this more and hopefully getting ahead a few chapters.
This week has been crap. Between taking my ACT, having a pretty rough break-up with my now ex-boyfriend whom I've been with for over 2 years, and being too busy playing other video games; I haven't had the patience to type anything.

So this one was a short little filler, most likely will be the next one or two before it gets better.
